Thief Class Guide

Thief Class

Thieves are masters of cloak and dagger. Surprise attacks and ambushes can always turn the tide of battle. They are from Morocc, the desert town of Rune Midgard.

Thief is mainly known for stealth kills and Poison. If you want to approach the enemy unnoticed, a thief will be the precise character. This means that using this class will include a lot of melee physical damage so you will need to increase your Agility to increase the dodge rate. This will also enhance your attack speed also becomes quite necessary so you can deal continuous fast damage.

In this guide, we will look into:
- Possible builds for Thief
- Recommended Skill Points Allocation
- Recommended Stat Points Allocation
- Recommended Equipments for each Build
- Thief Class Progression
- Leveling Spots
- And Special Tips for your Thief

Recommend Builds:

1. Trick Control Thief - This build highlights the trick control skill that deals AoE damage to all targets near the thief.

2. Auto Attack Thief - This build focuses on sheer attack speed and deals continuous damage. With the thief's double attack passive, you can deal double damage to the target when doing a normal attack. You can also use this build to trigger Auto skill cards when doing normal attacks.

3. Envenom Thief  -  This build focuses on the single damage skill Envenom. This skill deals poison element single damage to a target and a chance to inflict poison status that makes them lose their HP every second.

Skill Points Allocation

> For Envenom build, max out Envenom, Double attack, Increase Dodge, and Shield Dodge. Then allocate the rest of the points to Hiding.
> For Trick Control build, max out Trick Control, Double attack, Increase Dodge, and Shield Dodge. Then allocate the rest of the points to Hiding.

> Envenom deals poison property damage to the target and the chance to inflict poison status.
> Trick control deals AoE damage to targets around the Thief.
> Double attack deals double damage to your target when doing normal attacks.
> Both Increase Dodge and Shield Dodge increase your ability to dodge incoming damage.
> Hiding makes you invisible for a certain amount of time.

Recommended Stat allocation

For the Trick Control Thief - Max out STR for more damage. No need to add AGI early. As for the hit rate, you can rely on your equipment.

For the Auto Attack Thief - Put points to both STR and AGI with a 2:1 ratio. STR increases the base ATK. While adding points to AGI increases your Attack Speed.

For the Envenom Thief - Same with the auto Attack build, put points to both STR and AGI with a 2:1 ratio. STR increases the base ATK. While adding points to AGI increases your Attack Speed.

Recommended Equipment

1. Auto Attack Thief:

Weapon: Sandstorm Dagger
Armor: Thief Clothes or Combat Uniform
Garment: Ancient Cloak
Shoes: Bunny Slipper
Accessories: Silver Ring
Cards: Picky, Ninetails, Andre, (Racial, Element, Size) Cards

Note: You will be using continuous auto attack so equipment that either adds STR or AGI will be good for this build.

3. Envenom Thief:

Weapon: Poison Dagger
Armor: Combat Uniform
Garment: Wool Scarf or Ancient Cloak
Shoes: Tidal Shoes or Bunny Slipper
Accessories: Silver Ring
Cards: Picky, Ninetails, Andre, (Racial, Element, Size) Cards. You can also use Zenorc Card to increase the chance to inflict poison status on the target.

Note: Envenom deals a small amount of damage since this is a DOT skill, you may want to add this skill to your normal attacks.

3. Trick Control Thief:

Weapon: Poison Dagger or Refined Dagger
Armor: Combat Uniform
Garment: Ancient Cloak or Wool Scarf
Shoes: Tidal Shoes or Soft Leather Boots
Accessories: Silver Ring
Cards: Picky, Ninetails, Andre, (Racial, Element, Size) Cards. You can also add status effect cards to inflict status effects on multiple targets.

Note: Since this is a skill-type build, all the equipment either adds STR which increases Base ATK, or increases skill DMG.

Thief Class Progression

After graduating from the Novice Academy, you will begin your journey by traveling to Morroc, the desert city of Rune-Midgard Kingdom, to receive your Job Change quest from the Thief Guild.

The first quest is to flip a coin to test your luck
Next is to find the treasure chest and provide the correct codeword
Then you need to recite the code word and summon Kidd the thief
To where you will be asked to open the chest.
And for the last trial, you need to get past obstacles while hiding.
Find the mushroom maker and defeat it
And finally, report back to the trainer and toss the coin again

Congratulations! You are now a Thief.

You will be given a Dagger.

1. Once you change your job to Thief, focus on completing the "Twilight Lotus" quest.
2. You will be Base Lvl 15 and will be able to unlock the daily commission quest. Do not spend your daily tickets here and hunt monsters outside the town first. Until you reach Base level 17 where you can complete the "Traces of Baphomet: Sub quest."
3. Once done, hunts some Rockers and Thief Bugs until you reach Base level 22.
4. Continue the Main quest "Spirit Pieces."
5. And complete the rest of your battle time grinding in the following leveling spots.

Leveling Spots:

Since daggers have less damage to Medium and Large monsters due to the Weapon Size penalty, you may want to target small-size monsters to inflict full damage.

1. Prontera West Gate - For Base levels 10 to 20. Target Savage Bebe and Thief Bugs.

2. Desert Crossroad - For Base level 20 up. Target Desert Wolf Baby and Scorpion.

3. Byalan Island - For Base level 40 up. Target Vadon and Hydra for Card.

Special Tips for the Thief Class:

- Like the other Physical classes Thief are highly dependent on weapon converters to deal more damage. You need to bring dagger converters when grinding.
- Concentration potion is a must early game as well since you need all the Attack Speed stats that you can get.
- Poison skills work early game since adventurers don't have enough VIT to counter it. Though it will become less useful from mid to end game.

Pros and Cons of playing as Thief:

Pros: Able to deliver continuous single-target damage in a short time without getting hit much. This class can kill an enemy in the shortest amount of time, meaning faster leveling at higher levels. Though the thief's progression starts slow, but will deal massive damage in the long run.

Cons: Due to low VIT, thieves will take heavy damage in the beginning when the flee is low and will die in mobs because flee is reduced as there are more monsters attacking. This means you will use many potions in lower levels until flee become sufficient, or slow leveling depending if STR or AGI is the primary stat pumped.

You need to be careful when fighting in aggro areas since you will take high damage.

This is just a basic guide but feel free to adjust depending on your playstyle. Rok On!
